Solar Energy UK: how solar is empowering farmers and securing the future of agriculture
As a member of Solar Energy UK, we’re proud to support its work sharing best practice and success stories from across the UK. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing videos from its latest series looking at how solar can support farming businesses and biodiversity, while powering homes and businesses across the UK.
The third video looks at how solar farms can be used to diversify farming businesses, allowing vital food and energy to be produced side by side. Having developed, built and designed over 40 solar farms in the UK so far, PS Renewables has a strong track record of working closely with landowners and their agents on land holdings from 20 acres to 2,000 acres.
As one farmer shared, “The attractiveness of solar was really having a steady income whilst allowing you to carry on farming… it’s allowing you to become a better farmer.”
By using land for solar, farmers can secure their legacy for future generations and keep growing food for the country. Across the board, the message is clear: solar isn’t replacing farming, it’s helping it thrive.
