A second consultation on plans for South Brooks Solar Farm has been announced today.

Plans for South Brooks, a proposed new solar farm with battery storage connecting into Dungeness Substation, were first published last year. Feedback from the consultation, along with environmental studies, has led to a reduction of 20% in the developable area and a 25% increase in areas set aside for ecology and landscaping. This includes a 43-hectare (106 acre) area of land adjacent to RSPB Dungeness which would be dedicated to biodiversity.

The consultation will run for six weeks from Thursday 28 May 2026, with a deadline for feedback of 11.59pm on Thursday 09 July 2026. Comments received from stakeholders and the local community, alongside environmental surveys and technical work, will further help to shape the design of South Brooks Solar Farm, ahead of a Development Consent Order application being submitted early next year.

EDF power solutions UK’s Director of Solar, Storage and Private Wire Matthew Boulton said,

“We are grateful to everyone who shared their views with us last year. Consultation is a vital part of our design process, and we will continue to work with the local community to refine the plans ahead of submitting our DCO Application.”

Matt Hazell, Co-Founder and Director of PS Renewables said:

“By making best use of available grid capacity in the area, the South Brooks project would deliver substantial benefits for the environment and the local area. I encourage everyone to review the updated plans, meet with the team and share their comments.”

As part of the consultation, members of the public are invited to a series of public exhibitions to meet with the South Brooks project team and share their feedback. The exhibitions will take place at the following dates and locations:

  • Thursday 11 June (1pm – 5pm) – Lydd Community Hall, Manor Road, Lydd TN29 9HU
  • Friday 12 June (4:30pm – 8:30pm) – St Peter’s Church, Baldwin Road, Greatstone TN28 8RG
